Study Introduction
The Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) is leading a Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) study called Accessible Public Bus and Rail Passenger Information for Riders with Vision Disabilities. This project will develop a transit agency guide for improving how information is provided to passengers who are blind or low vision (B/LV)—helping those passengers independently and efficiently navigate transit systems.
In this portion of the study, members of the B/LV community are being asked to complete a survey about their experiences with transit passenger information. Transit agencies are also being asked to complete a separate survey about how they provide passenger information. Survey responses are critical to help guide the development of the transit agency guide.
Survey Information
There are two surveys in this study — one for people who are blind or low vision and one for public transit agencies.
Survey for People Who are Blind or Low Vision
If you’re a person who is blind or low vision, you use public transit, and you’re interested in participating, the survey is currently suspended due to receiving a large number of fraudulent responses. We’re working on updates now. If you are a member of a national, regional, or local organization that supports or advocates for the blind and low-vision community, you may be invited through them. Otherwise, you can also take the survey over the phone at 979-393-0168 once it is re-opened.
If you have any questions, please contact the survey manager, Ipek Sener, at [email protected].
Survey for Transit Agencies
If you represent a transit agency or similar organization we need your help! If you’re interested in taking the Survey for Transit Agencies, please contact the survey manager, Ipek Sener, at [email protected]. That’s the best method to ensure that you are not duplicating a survey completed by someone else at your agency.
Otherwise, if you know your agency hasn’t completed the survey, you can visit tx.ag/BLVTransit.
