TCRP H-52: Case Studies

Park-and-ride services and facilities have changed dramatically over the last 20 years. From serving primarily as parking lots to morphing into investment properties, park-and-ride facilities have undergone major transformations. Park-and-ride planners and manages need targeted research to develop a single resource for improved strategies and best practices to plan and manage park-and-ride facilities for public transportation. The objective of the TCRP H-52 research is to develop a decision-making toolbox to better plan and manage park-and-ride facilities for public transportation. The final product for this research will be a guidebook for public transportation planners and managers.

As part of background research for the guidebook, the research team conducted case study research to gather detailed information from selected transit agencies. The purpose of the case studies is to learn from the experiences of transit agencies that know the opportunities and challenges of park-and-ride. The case studies will contribute to the guidebook that will be the final product of this research project.

The TCRP H-52 research team completed 16 case studies of the park-and-ride programs for transit agencies across the U.S. and in Calgary, Canada.  The case studies are listed below (appendices are provided as additional files, available for download).
