Brazos Transit District/Huntsville Transit & Mobility Study

The Transit & Mobility Study will develop a public transit plan for Huntsville. The Study will evaluate transit service and funding options to help meet local needs such as improving access to jobs. The Study is a joint effort of Brazos Transit District (BTD) and the City of Huntsville. It is being conducted by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI).

The Study needs your input on public transportation needs, challenges, opportunities, and priorities! To learn more and/or to provide input, keep reading!

The major Study tasks include the following:

  • City Council and Advisory Committee kickoff meetings (April – May 2021) COMPLETED
  • Round 1 public engagement activities (June – August 2021) UNDERWAY
  • Needs assessment (August – September 2021) UNDERWAY
  • Peer review (September 2021) UNDERWAY
  • Identification of transit service models (October – November 2021) COMPLETED
  • Development of preliminary alternatives (December 2021 – January 2022) COMPLETED
  • Alternatives evaluation (February – April 2022) IN PROGRESS
  • Round 2 public engagement activities (May – June 2022)
  • Development of preferred alternative (July 2022)
  • Development of implementation plan (August 2022)
  • Development of project report (September – October 2022)
